⇒ BMW GINA

the GINA: Geometry and Functions In "N" Adaptations

wow! It's been a long long time since I got excited about car design (last car was Nissan S15) but look at you! All revolutionary and futuristic!

Seriously, this thing is a piece of art. It's got skin, and movement under it, like it's alive! That said, some people see resemblances to certain anatomy...some people...

⇒ iPhone, mk. II

Apple revised their iPhone line, bringing it to more countries (Aus. finally included!), better battery, faster data transfer, better software and half price of original...

All well and good, BUT, once again, they won't be getting my dollars. The unjustifiably low-spec camera (2MP in 2008? Come on!?!?!?), 130g+ weight and size pretty much exclude it from my phone criteria.

Hey Apple, here's some free market research: make a phone I actually would want to buy! Then I'll buy it. Don't force feed me a phone with features I'll never need.

My phone criteria:
  • 3MP + (autofocus mandatory, otherwise, what's the point?)

  • video recording function (yep I use this). I mean if it can playback video, then why can't it record video?

  • minimum 4GB memory (onboard or expandable, I don't give sh!t)

  • music player

now for the options--the phone don't need this, but it'd go a long way towards making me want it:
  • use of miniSD format--cuz it's dirt cheap

  • USB connector in the box

  • 3.5mm headphone jack standard (i.e., not an add-on cost SONY ERICSSON, I'm looking right at you!

  • slim design, preferably NOT a slider

  • weight < 100g. I'm going to be carrying around in my pants all day. Not having to carry that extra gram-age is important

don't care about fancy touchscreen...

⇒ 2008 french open finals

watched the finals live! y-yae...

shiiiiiiiiit! Federer got whupped 6-1, 6-3, 6-0! in about 1'40" only! Nadal didn't drop a set the entire tournament!

Not only that, but he's 11-6 on Federer now, and he straight-setted Novak Djokovic along the way. Damn...

Watching him play, I couldn't figure out what exactly he does better than anyone else on clay, but that might be it--the deception. I guess he disguises his tactics or setups so well that my amateur eyes cannot keep up. Add to that his beastly fitness, speed and power. Got the trophy from the Ice-Borg himself...Federer looked distraught and demoralized...awesome...anyone who isn't afraid of Federer and demolishes him like that earns respect and awe.

Nadal's clay court record is 2 losses in over 115 matches! 28 straight victories at Roland Garros since debut!...He's fearless.

Federer wasn't playing superhuman, but he wasn't terrible either. He just never really challenged Nadal.

You could say Roger made a Fed-error...(apologies for the lame pun)

⇒ long weekend day 2:winter fit

i thought about my overall gym going purpose before i went today. I don't remember the why of it anymore. It's not for
  • marathon--4+ hours of running seems ridiculous
  • vanity--adonis complex has faded, I don't care for it
  • strength & fitness--I'm a computer jockey
  • and weight loss--I've been trying for 3-4 months but the weight ain't coming off...

anyhoo, had a serious physical breakthrough today...the recent runs have been improving--I've paced myself better and gotten progressively more and more patient. I ran my first full 2.0km today! Did it in 12', which is another first for me. I went on to reach 4.0km in just under 30' (another best) and finish in 34'53" (beat the old record by 3 minutes?!?!?).

I dunno. I had a bowl and a half of chips w/ gravy and ketchup last nite...and a black russian...not too much hydration either...I just switched on today...I was smiling through the run! I was on track to finish in less time but I got excited/greedy and faded...but still very good today. Also consider I ran 5.0km yesterday too!

2.0km continuous in 12'07" (both new bests)
388KCALs over 5.0km, 395KCALs total (new bests)
34'53" total 5.0km time (new best)

bench:
8*60, 12*50, 12*50, 12*50,
other weights, stretch. No swim, no bike (pretty bad weather)
