⇒ gym and golf

5k in 42'15" = new all-time personal best!!!

my legs REALLY hurt

light upper body exercises today
bench
shoulders
back
total of 8 sets
stretch

swim a bit...

went to driving range (Moore Park)--it's way expensive.
Really bad at hitting the ball now, which is pretty much my whole game.
It's been over a year since I've been to the driving range and I'm really rusty now. I tried improving my swing--the whole left arm straight thing and by the end of the day I got some improvement, i think. But the whole time (85 balls) I never managed more than 100m with either driver or iron (3-iron). I'm accustomed to hitting close to 200 with the driver, so that's a bummer.

Then had Lansdowne for dinner. Chicken burger as usual...not too bad...not the best ever but still pretty good.

⇒ something missing

not getting the response I've been expecting from employers...no idea why...something missing in my...attempts...i guess.

went to gym today...was going to cut duration but ended up doing everything anyways.
about 46' on treadmill for 5k (346 KCALs burned) MAN MY LEGS HURT! In fact, everything from the hair down hurt! I wasn't really out of breath too much, just that my shin/calves hurt too much too go fast.

did about 6 upper body sets (inc. 4 sets of bench, 40s and 50s)

swim too.

Had a problem with my Powerbook today. Went frantic and batshit for a bit trying to figure out what's gone wrong but in the end (long story short) it turns out the 'Dvorak' mode of my keyboard switched on (don't ask how). So here I am, typing away happily on the restored settings (Dvorak is murderous! It took about 30 seconds to type a phrase into Google to search!)

⇒ monday, 10th march, 2008

not too eventful today...got a rejection/response from an application. I'm gonna keep on trying but I'm seriously starting to worry.

Went to gym today...too much too soon. I didn't last very long on the treadmill:
20', barely 2.4km and barely 150 KCALs. I think it's my lack of hydration pre-work which cost me.

I focused a little more on upper body today. Did about 10 sets of stuff, including 2 of solo bench press (no spotter). Feeling confident, I went with 50kg and was fine. But I dropped down to 40kg for higher reps.

Swim afterwards too, and didn't do too bad.

Finally got my hands on Deep Heat (good stuff!), so my right leg is getting the heat it needs. Now if could just get to an interview...

⇒ the next 5k

made another 5k today! i went a little crazy and tried out my 'it doesn't hurt' mentality and it sort of worked. Totalled 5k in ~44', which is an all-time personal best...well I'm pretty sure it is anyways. Burned about 350 KCALs just on the treaddy.

did about 10-12 sets of upper body, including a set of bench press, with no spotter. I let the fear of injury give me strength. I'm getting pretty comfortable with 40kg now.

As it turns out, I woke late, ate late, went late and a as a consequence, I ended up with no time for swimming.

A NOTE: after the run, I didn't feel too worn out...good hydration going right now, but my right shin and calf are really hurtin'. Not sure why (hurt before I ran), and I reckon it was holding me back from setting better times on the treadmill.

The high-rep plan is going well for my upper body. Starting to see some results(?) But the midsection is alot harder. Diet must be very strict.
