⇒ pirate-y

today was 'talk like a pirate day' was this brought on by the Pirate of the Caribbean phenomenon? Anyhoo, at Kinokuniya, they got in the spirit and decked themselves out in pirate clobber and gave out some free tats...kinda fun, if you're in the mood.

forgot to mention: a couple of days ago, bumped into Pit from high school--actually, he stopped me. Not a great conversationalist, that guy. He's like "what you doing?" and "where you work?". No smalltalk. So then after I answer he's like just standing there, not saying anything. Hey mofo, you stopped me for a chat! Jeez, learn some interpersonal skills, you've been in this country long enough! Bleeeeeeergggggggh! Pissant frustrates me with his smugness--that's right I could definitly tell he was smug with me! Feck you!

⇒ pwo-gwamming!

someone asked me the other day: what programming languages have you done? Sh!tloads, really...I gave it some thought over the weekend and I now realize that I know more programming languages (basics at least) than real-world languages.

as best I can recall:
Pascal
Turbo Pascal
Visual Basic
Microsoft Turtle
JAVA
C
MySQL/SQL
HTML
Javascript
Perl
PHP
MATLAB
68HC11 Compiler code
Actionscript
Lingo
XML
Linux/Unix/Command line
Virtools
Max/MSP

do semantics/pseudo-code/flow-charts count? Does Excel count? It does take some ability to compose more complex formulae in Excel...that's all I can think of right now...

⇒ motions

i posit a theory about the recent spate of emptyness in my life: every day I go through the exact same motions as the day before and the day after--it's not that I want unpredictability, but I don't want to be grinding out an existence. Sure, not knowing what's around the corner is scary, but I'm barely alive as it is...

⇒ squash, swim, sauna

went to squash today--was hour and half late--and won only 1 match. oh well...

also went to pool and sauna today--I used the FREE PASS for the Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre in Ultimo. Quite nice, because the place is so new. But then again, a pool is a pool...and it's nothing extra special. I stayed in the sauna/steam room for about half hour...I'm not sure, the time passed without me really checking. I was bored as in there--all you do is sit there...Next time, bring: magazine or person to talk to. Nice scent in there though, a firm, steamed wood eucalyptus smell with touch of burnt.

While swimming, the sky got darker, and being an indoor pool, the cover was partially glass. Combining the two, I watched myself swim in the ceiling (sculling)...it's quite a thing to see...it's like watching yourself floating in space-kind of surreal.

Picked up some cushions for my seating comfort today. They were on the cheap--35% orff!
