late friday night edition

squashed against Vincent and his 2 cousins today (Raymond and Richmond). Mostly lost but did give Vince a good scare with my serve (he hasn't seen it in a while or doesn't remember it). Anyways, he adjusted to it too quickly for me to win but I did outlast him. I was still raring to go when he declared himself out of competition. The fitness training is starting to pay off.

No running today. I really want to keep running 5km chunks so I need to let my right calf heal up a bit. This is what I did today:
rowing: 1km in 5'00"
vert chest press: 2380lbs
1000+kg reverse incline bench press
1040lbs shoulder press
cycling: 11.95km in 20'00" and 130 Cals.
some stretching and crunches.
up and down the pool 6 times.
I forgot to do vert. chest flys today but I did do 2 chest press exercises.

⇒ 3 hours at the gym/pool

spent 3 hours at the gym/pool today. Mainly because Frank was late. Also now that we training together again, it's taking longer for me to train (we take turns on machines/sets, so I have to wait). Well, at least I did do a heck of alot today: over 1600kg on seated vertical pull-down, over 1000kg on vertical chest fly, lots of curls and other machine and ab work. Topped off with a 5km treaddy session (did it in 43'30", which is ok, considering my aggravated calf) and some pool time.

⇒ no time for swim

gymmed. unfortunately, i misinterpreted some documents and thus did not make enough time for swim. Also went to UNSW COFA's open day. Was ok. Bloody hot and sticky all day though.

Gymming was slightly disappointing in that I didn't break any new ground and didn't push myself on everything. There is one redeeming factor: did 5' continuous running on treaddy. Totalled 2.47km in 20' which isn't great, but my calf was actn a fool. Frank's back in Sydney so I benched today. Not bad, I can barely believe that I'm quite comfortable with the 50. My goal is still several reps of three figures.

i think that's how you spell it. Viet new year has come and gone once again. Extended family came to visit but didn't stay very long. Mum went down to Canberra with Linh.
All good at home.

Squashed--got thrashed 12-4, mostly due to sore calf from all the running last week and theo's ferocious new serve: fast, deep and in the corners...I'll need a better strategy to curb his serving. One courageouse moment: was down 6-0, then broke back all the way to victory with 11-6! That's 11 straight points!

Then went gym but didn't do any cardio (because of the calf). Did inclined bench press. Changed it up between 40, 30 and 20kgs. Totalled 1060kg-ish. Did vert chest fly. Mostly high reps using low weights. Totalled 2080lbs-ish. Did vert chest press. Again, mostly high rep, low weight. Totalled 2260lbs-ish. Then went for a swim to cool off. I'm starting to get comfortable being at the very bottom of the deep end. The pressure doesn't bother me as much anymore.

I must say, having shed some weight (mostly toned up and shed weight/gained muscle mass at the same time) I noticed that when I fall over, it actually hurts more. There's less meat to cushion the fall!
