⇒ 8.8.8.8.8.8

8 seconds past 8 minutes into the 8th hour of the 8th day of the 8th month of the 8th year of the 2nd modern millenium...that's the opening of the Beijing Olympics for ya...

if you haven't figured it out by now, asians dig the number '8' - it's uber lucky.

Watched most of the opening ceremony--not bad! Actually much more memorable and classy and cultured than Sydney and Athens (IMHO).

⇒ weekly #18 day 1

Rafa Nadal ASSURED World #01 ranking. Federer's 2nd round loss in Cincinnati masters to Ivo Karlovic and Nadal's run to semis (before loss to Djokovic) means he will be #1 by 18th August, 2008. About bloody time! If winning the French Open, Queens and then Wimbledon in the same year, in addition to 2 masters series, doesn't make you #1, something's seriously wrong with tennis.

Federer will drop down to #3 (Djokovic is up to #2). All due respect to Federer, he's not playing badly--he made the semi-finals or better of the 3 grand slams this year, but he's not getting the phenomenal results we're accustomed to seeing from him.
