I don't know what the Japanese word is, but I'm pretty sure the Chinese term is 'Gung Fu'-this does not simply refer to martial arts, but rather the dedication of oneself to a particular activity such that they attain previously unimagined levels. This may be why alot of Japanese excel in particular activities.
