i've finished harry potter 7...what can i say? like every harry potter book before it--this was fantastic, suspenseful, exciting and unstoppable. Yet it also carried a dread. While I did 'race through' the book, eager to find out what happens on the next page/chapter, the book carried an overall dread with it: there won't be another harry potter book to read. This is it. The final Potter.
I really enjoyed the twists and turns--and right up to its final moments do you get the revelations and clarity of all the previous books. Rarely for any continuing series does an additional volume add to the deeper meaning/overall quality of the series (ahem, George Lucas), but this book was unbelievably clever and used events/items hidden in plain sight from 1-6 in such a way that they complimented the previous volumes and surprised you into saying 'oh yeeeeeaaaah!'. Things/events which till the end you didn't question and just accepted as is. Very clever, what JK Rowling did with it. It all makes sense and has you smacking your head "Oh!!!!" as the revelation becomes clear. Surprising and surprises everywhere. Loose ends tied up, not much unaccounted for and very clever revisits to all previous books within.
Overall, I was very satisfied (didn't turn out quite the way I expected it), a little saddened by the ending of the series. I must read again!
Took me about 12 hours all up...comfortable reading pace, but I consistently had to slow myself down, for my enthusiasm to discover the truth/secrets pushed me to read faster...I stayed up all night reading...I probably haven't read this much since the last Harry Potter book.
well done JK Rowling. A thrilling, surprising, shocking and satisfying conclusion which has me wanting more...
